What I want to continue to fight for…

bullet

To lower Maine’s tax burden and control government spending

bullet

To renew Maine’s commitment to excellence in K-12 education by returning management of the education system to local educators and parents;

bullet

To lower Maine’s tax burden and control  government spending at all levels;

bullet

To create new jobs by providing better opportunities for new and existing businesses through less regulation and lower taxes

bullet

To improve healthcare for Maine citizens by reducing government control, encouraging access and allowing competition in the insurance market

bullet

To protect our natural resources with balanced policies that include consideration of social and economic impact

bullet

To expand access to vocational education opportunities and the community college system.

bullet

To ensure our communities are safe for our children by continuing to work for practical solutions.

What I believe ...

bullet

I believe the strength of our state lies with the individual and that each person's dignity, freedom, ability and responsibility must be honored.

bullet

I believe in equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, creed, sex, age or disability.

bullet

I believe that free enterprise and the encouragement of individual initiative have brought this state opportunity, economic growth and prosperity.

bullet

I believe government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of the money they earn. I believe we need a non-partisan team of experienced professional financial experts to develop job qualifications and ethical standards and best practice requirements for all state financial officers.

bullet

I believe Maine can lead the nation in economic growth and quality of life if we make fundamental changes to the way the state government operates.

bullet

I believe that the only way to tame spending in Augusta is to pass a constitutional amendment to limit the size of growth in all levels of government. TABOR is the first step in this process

bullet

I believe the proper role of government is to provide for the people only those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations and that the best government is that which governs least.

bullet

I believe the most effective, responsible and responsive government is government closest to the people. Open lines of communications are essential to responsive government.

bullet

I believe Mainers must retain the principles that have made us strong while developing new and innovative ideas to meet the challenges of changing times.

bullet

I believe the current health insurance system of mandated benefits, guaranteed issue and community rating has driven most providers from the Maine individual insurance market, creating a virtual monopoly and resulting in high cost to the consumer. We have proven workable solutions to this problem which would bring about lower more affordable premiums for Maines families.
